The Cohort Experience

Each cohort is limited to 10–15 emerging managers. Over six sessions, participants work through the intellectual, relational, and operational foundations of fund formation and firm building. These are intentionally designed as an "anti-accelerator" to carve out true differentiation for GPs, which comes from within.

The cohort model exists because fund building is not a solo endeavor. The managers who succeed are the ones who have a room they trust. The Circle is that room.

The Six Sessions

01

Thesis & Identity

Why are you doing this & should you embark on this journey. Here we explore frameworks like the "Golden Circle" and how to identify and articulate your Why in a compelling way.

02

Calling & Vocation

How to truly discern what makes you better & how to tell it to others. This session covers the Emergence concept, which Benedikt developed. It's goal is to maximzie your alignment and overlap between who you are as a person and the fund strategy you are pursuing. Your thesis should be uniquely yours and not be passed on to a different investor without loosing quality.

03

Conviction & Strategy

Can you articulate your lens in a way that inspires others? Here we cover story telling frameworks that most people miss. Like turning your LPs into the hero of your hero's journey.

04

The Ecology of a Fund

What ecosystems are you part of and how to map your network? Most people in Venture believe that everyone is equally gifted at connecting with people. This is not true. Some are better than others. But how should you think about this? How should you categorzie LPs in the map of your networks?

05

The Economics of Trust

One way to never raise any money is to lead with transactional relationships. Many don't do this consciously, but it happens all the time. Here we cover frameworks, like The Virtue of Play, on how to created trusted relationships with LPs. Some call it "vibes", but I'll show you that even thinkgers like Aristotle spoke about this.

06

The View from Across the Table

What LPs see when looking at you & what they are really looking for. This is where the magic comes together and all our work from our sessions will form into a cohesive mosaic of powerful conviction and articulation.

Testimonials

  • "Benedikt has been a thoughtful sounding board, an insightful source of knowledge, and generous with his time since the early days of Supercruise. He's also been kind enough to make connections with LPs and other GPs where relevant. Embracing Emergence is a must read for all emerging managers and LPs interested in emerging managers."

    Morgan Livermore

GP @ Supercruise (ex Quiet Capital & Accel)

  • "I’ve been a fan of Benedikt’s longer than I’ve actually known him myself. I’m a big believer in a rising tide raises all ships, and Embracing Emergence is just that. It elucidtaes private converstations LPs are having and opens them up for broader knowledge acquisition and discussion. Benedikt is also an n-of-1 writer, and for the lost, first-time reader, I’d recommend starting from ‘Monks and Managers’ and the ‘Differentiation for GPs Nobody Talks About’."

    David Zhou

    LP & Host @Superclusters

  • "When Benedikt calls or sends over an opportunity we always take a deep look. We know that his introductions come with thorough and thoughtful analysis. The industry needs more people like Benedikt, people that are true to their word and are continually advocating for the next generation of top tier talent."

    Nico Mizrahi

  • "I have been part of Benedikt’s LP community since its early days and found it invaluable in expanding my perspectives as an LP, particularly in ways that align with Screendoor’s mission of supporting Emerging Managers and helping allocators navigate this ecosystem. I’ve had insightful discussions with fellow allocators on asset allocation, investment strategy, venture funds, and I have also been a guest on hi thoughtful newsletter, which dives deep into critical topics on all things Venture Capital."

    Jamie Rhode

  • "Benedikt was one of the first to see my fund pitch deck and gave sharp, practical feedback. He helped me find and tell my own authentic story - something I had initially underestimated the importance of, but proved essential for connecting with LPs."

    Mark Scianna

    GP @Forward Deployed (ex Palantir)

  • "Benedikt was my first call when I decided I wanted to go start a fund. He helped me refine my narrative and emphasized the importance of having the right story with LPs and gave amazing feedback as I nailed down my pitch. He also made some great intros to emerging manager friendly LPs, they were some of my best calls."
